Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare
For thousands of years, the sages of India have understood that sound vibration affects our world both on the physical and spiritual plane. The ancient Sanskrit Mantras revealed in the Vedas are special sound formulas that are infused with powerful spiritual energy amplified by the sacred names contained within them. Of all the Vedic mantras the maha-mantra, also known today as the Hare Krishna Mantra, has the greatest potential to evoke the transcendent power of the divine.
Meditation on the maha-mantra focuses your power of intention on awakening your innate capacity to give and receive love, and experience enlightened bliss. It connects you to a spiritual reality beyond the mundane experience known as absolute reality. Chanting can connect you to the divine source of your true power, your higher self – your Krishna consciousness. In this realm, spiritual awareness, joy, and bliss are abundant.
The powerful repetition of chanting the maha-mantra is both a simple and effective meditation technique for quieting the mind and lifting your awareness. Whether chanting softly to yourself, known as japa, or singing the Mantra in Kirtan, especially with a group of kindred spirits, this Mantra is like a key that unlocks the doors to higher consciousness - one suffused with love, devotion, and compassion.
I’ve tried a lot of different practices and they all tell you to still your mind which is almost impossible. It’s really, really hard for me, because I always have a lot of thoughts swimming around in my mind. The Hare Krishna Mantra gives me something to focus on and something to put my energy towards, and that makes everything easier, and there’s also the Kirtan. The music makes everything a lot more fun.
