Hey Guys! We made it to the last day of our workshop. There are plenty of other things you could have been doing, so thank you for taking the time to learn more about this process with me.
Regular daily practice, even just a few minutes each day for meditation, can be a challenge, and you did it! In this video lesson series, I’ve shared everything you need to get started with regular chanting.
Your experience so far can now be the basis of creating your own practice. In Sanskrit, this is known as ‘Sadhana’ or ‘a means of accomplishing something.’ Just like if you want to learn an instrument, you will need to apply yourself to a routine, which can help you over time. By committing ourselves to this spiritual Sadhana, we gradually see improvement and watch all unwanted qualities wash away.
The personal, meditative chanting you’ve been doing is called ‘Japa’. By a daily practice of chanting, you’ll prepare yourself with the consciousness needed to live your day and your life in a spiritual way, growing to your full potential, benefiting not just yourself, but the world around you.
One main element of Japa is to fix a number of Mantras you chant each day. Again, like practicing an instrument or learning a new language, you become proficient, quicker, if you commit to doing your practice even on the days you don’t feel up for it. So to help you keep track of the time you’re giving to the maha-mantra, I recommend getting a set of chanting beads, otherwise known as a ‘Japa Mala’. This will really help, and we have Japa kits available in our store or should you take the follow-up course, one is included. The idea is that on each bead you chant one Mantra, and then move to the next, helping you stay consistent and also engaging your sense of touch in the meditation, which helps quiet the mind.
Tomorrow and your journey forward, try gradually increasing your meditation time, as you feel comfortable, and consider how some of the other ideas we’ve shared, might help your experience in the practice and life in general.
Definitely, keep in touch. You can re-watch any of these videos, search our forums and connect with our team. We’re ready to continue the conversation and help in every step of the way.
Congratulations on coming to the last day of the workshop.
As you learned in today’s lesson, the next step is to create your own daily practice or sadhana. We are there to support you with our other courses:
Today, to complete the workshop, increase your meditation session to 20 minutes. We look forward to supporting your chanting journey from here on.
